What did you do this past week?

This past week was a very relaxed week in terms of what I did for this class. All I did was show up to lectures and meet up with my team to delegate the work for the upcoming iteration of our project.

What’s in your way?

Since there really isn’t much going on, there isn’t really much in my way. I will say, however, for the next iteration of the project I’m going to have to struggle a little bit with react to get the front-end to work. This is my first time working with it, and there is still so much I need to learn before our website even looks remotely presentable.

What will you do next week?

Next week I’m back to work. While I will be occupied doing work for other classes (they have just started picking up), I will also be putting in work on our website. I want to get my portion of the project done as soon as possible, so that I can help out my teammates on theirs.

What did you think of Paper #7: Liskov Substitution Principle?

I thought it was a neat way to think about inheritance. I’m not entirely sure I agree with it though, I think I need to give the article another read to see if I’m missing something. I just am not sure if the extra thought that needs to go into designing classes that adhere to this principle is worth the benefits that the article presents.

What was your experience of operators and iteration? (this question will vary, week to week)

I thought it was really cool. I love how in this class we get to explore the nitty gritty of python and really learn what’s going on under the hood. You would think operators and iterators are a basic element of any language, but I definitely learned a lot more than I thought I would.

What made you happy this week?

This week I finally was able to take the time and visit a lot of my high school friends down in College Station.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

If you ever get a flapper (the skin on your palms partially tears off), don’t pick the skin off. As annoying as it is, it is best to leave the skin on so that the wound is protected from the environment. (I learned this one the hard way)
